Circumstances Today 

  • Flora and fauna, evolving in isolation, can not compete.

  • Single predatory animals have nearly wiped out indigenous populations in the past. 

  • Pollution, deforestation, and expansion of man's footprint threaten these unique and precious resources.

Just one example...

In the 1990s the introduction of just one single raccoon on White Cay in the Bahamas nearly wiped out an entire species of Iguana native only to that island.  This species would have been lost forever if not for the conservation efforts of people like those working with GICS.
